The ancient city is a Mini-Thailand, a big open air museum situated 33 kms east
of Bangkok. In this project, surrounded by waterways and gardens, all major monuments
ranging from one third of original to actual size and even a 50 meters high mini-mountain
representing the Prasat Phra Viharn in the east of Thailand have been reconstructed,
and millions have been invested to rebuild the ancient Reception Hall of Ayuthaya.
Ancient City (Muang Boran)
The Ancient City, or Muang Boran, is dubbed as the world's largest outdoor museum.
Situated close to the Crocodile Farm in Samut Prakan province, the 80-hectare
city features 109 scaled-down copies of Thailand's famous monuments and architectural
attractions. The grounds of the Ancient City correspond roughly to the shape
of the Kingdom, with each of the monuments lying at their correct places geographically.
Some of the buildings are life-size replicas of existing or former sites, while
others are one-third scale. (The Ancient City)
Samutprakan Crocodile Farm & Zoo
Samut Prakan Crocodile Farm and Zoo It was built in 1950 as Thailands first
crocodile farm. It is now the worlds largest crocodile farm. It is situated
at Tambon Tai Ban, 3 kilometres from Samut Prakan town. The farm has over 40,000
crocodiles of different kinds in various pits. Daily shows feature catching
crocodiles bare-handed. Shows take place every hour from 08.00-17.00., except
at noon; additional shows at 12.00 and 17.00 on holidays. Feeding time is between
16.30 - 17.30. Another star attraction for visitors is the elephant show of
which performances are held daily every hour from 09.30 -16.30. Furthermore,
